One of the sickest comps of the year has been and gone and once again it was a big hit with some of the craziest moves ever seen! The top moves included a double half-cab roll by Parks, a perfect switch toeside 1080 by Rusty Malinoski and a heelside nosegrab mobe 720 by Harley Clifford. The mobe 720 was a move that almost went down years ago by Andrew Adkison, but no rider in the world has been able to land it until Harley. The riders voted and decided that Harley’s mobe 720 was one of the baddest moves ever seen on a wakeboard and was the well deserved winner.

Well once again Mr Nick Davies has landed a new trick and what a trick it is! Nicky D continues to push wakeboarding to its limits and his new trick a raley 720 is no exception. At WakeEmpire.com he is definitely one of our favourite riders to watch as we imagine he is for a lot of people and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for the future, especially now as he is getting his brand new pro model board ‘The Process’, which is a brand new shape and looks sick!

In the UK we have some of the best riders in the world and finally someone has decided they are going to make a UK cable wakeboard film! The riders featured in this film will be Nick Davies, Gary Stelfox, James Young, CK Koester, Kirsteen Mitchell, Steph Caller, Lewis Cornwall, Dec Clifford, Alex Newman, Jo Andrews, Matt Price, John Busby, Pete Ward and more. Just to top it off this film will be available free from it’s website www.IceCreamMovie.com in Spring of next year.

Christian Koester a.k.a. CK is a rider who has been around the UK wakeboard scene for a long time and has always been sick. A lot of you have probably heard of him and seen him ride and will know he has got loads of tricks and more importantly has bucket loads of style and here at WakeEmpire.com he is definitely one of our favourite riders to watch. He recently won the UK cable nationals and now has been back down at his stomping grounds, which is JBSki and has been the newest UK rider to be throwing 1080s consistently and has made a conscious effort to not start spinning on the kicker as a lot of people are doing and some would say are cheating slightly! Aaanyway here is the video showing his 100% legit toeside 1080 and some of his heelside 1080 attempts, hope you like it:
Recently at Box End in Bedfordshire it was the 3rd round of the Relentless UK Pro Tour. On the same day it was the Cable Nationals so some of the UK’s top cable riders where there to show off their skills. There was some great riding in both the women’s and men’s comps but it was Kirsteen Michelle who took the women’s title. In a really close final it was CK who took the win in the men’s with a sick run, which left Nick Davies in 2nd and Gareth Stelfox coming in 3rd.
The wakeboard scene in the UK is definitely getting bigger and more and more big name sponsors are getting in on the action. One of these big name’s is Fox, which has it’s very own wake team that has some really sick riders on it. On it is Lee Debuse, Louis Floyd, Kirsteen Mitchell and Scott Rosewell. The most well known member of the team is probably Lee Debuse who has been around the UK wake scene for a long time and is a great rider and coach, but the rest of the team are making big names for themselves, recently Kirsteen Mitchell won the cable world championships and Scott Rosewell came 2nd in his category. So another Wakestock has been and gone and once again it was a great success. Each year the event gets bigger and bigger and more riders from all over the world make the trip over to take part and see what all the fuss is about. This year we had some of the world’s best in the form of Aaron Rathy, Dean Smith, Phil Soven, Austin Hair and the UK’s very own Nick Davies. When it was time for the men’s final the conditions were far from perfect, with high winds and rain, but that didn’t stop the riders. It was Phil Soven who took the win, but in this video you can see all of the highlights from the men’s finals:
So most of you probably have heard of Harley Clifford and maybe even seen some of his riding and if you have you know how good he is! Recently he has been making an even bigger name for himself on the pro tour and here is a video of him while he is doing a bit of free riding or ‘training’. He was on lake Holden and as you will see he is doing some sick tricks, he does 4 900′s in a row and there is even a Whirly Dick in there!

Thai wake park is the newest cable out in Thailand, and isn’t like some of the other cables out there. If you have ever been to the cable in Phuket you will know it is, well quite ‘primitive’ where the kickers are basically just a bit of MDF wedged out of the water, Thai Wake Park is nothing like that and looks really sick! Some well known riders have made the trip over to check it like CK (Christian Koester) and Max Main and they loved it! Here is a vid from Thai Wake Park and it looks like they have such a cool set up and we definitely want to make the trip over, hope you like it:

So the UK Pro Tour is back and the first stop took place at LDB Wake School at JBSki and if you didn’t manage to get down this weekend to see all the action then don’t worry we have a video for you to watch of all the action! You will see riding from all the UK’s best and some from overseas, but it ended up with Ronix rider Dan Nott taking the win. It’s great to see the UK Pro Tour back and we can’t wait for the next stop!
